Sepia Background

I'm doing some sketches to figure out color schemes and styles for my sepia tone backgrounds, I think I'm gonna do some ink studies of bgs and try coloring those. That might give me the look I want.

Anyways, this was about a 15 minute paint, what do you guys think?

Ink Personality Sheet!

Meet Ink! A little more of his personality is revealed in these important poses. In my drawing and characterization class Mr. Welch had a sheet of the best poses to show a characters personality. This involved a sleeping pose, a weapon breaking mid battle, trying to get attn.. etc. Well I was able to work the first two into this sheet as well of some of my own. Ink isn't too pleased to meet you, but it's not you per se, he's just not a people person.

Ink Part II

Some of you may remember an older post I made introducing a character design for "Ink."

Well after many many sketches, I have finally nailed down a final character design. (You know, barring me changing it spontaneously, which hopefully I will not do.)

8 word meme...

Well the concept behind this meme is to have several people give you a random word, (8 responded to my DA journal post, so that's how many I have.) and then I'm to do a quick (5-10 minute) painting based on that word.

Well the first word I chose to do was Pursuit. As I watched V for Vendetta today... well I couldn't help myself.

REPO MAN!

Well I started to do Repo fanart many months back, got all the way to the flats when work came up, then my tablet pen died. All in all, this poor guy never saw anything beyond the basics. I have a tablet being shipped now! So expect to see him finished.

Ami Doodle

A little doodle of a painting. This is my number one OC Sean enjoying the autumn leaves. Yellow is his favorite color, so naturally he loves the autumn. This is a younger portrait, I would say.. 15ish?

This time in their non-J&D forms. The real Tom & Sean having a playful romp in Seans room that he's never in. These two are inseparable and Sean follows Tom everywhere ;)

Giddy Up Daddy!!!

Sean & Tom finally meet

Tom and Sean from the J&D Oc world. My sister has crafted this awesome story for Tom in the J&D Universe so I had to bring Sean in. Tom gets a ring that gives him all the knowledge of Magama, a high ranking government official and master of light eco. He spends his life trying to help the world, and fight Baron Praxis. He has a lot of heartache because of the knowledge he inherits. Towards the end of his life he meets a toddler Sean and decides not to give him the ring. Unfortunately he is shot and the ring rolls away. Sean picks it up and puts it on. Now he has the memories and knowledge of Magam and Tom. He is a really passionate and emotional being so he becomes quickly upset with righting the tragic death of his father, so that they can work together to right the wrongs that Baron Praxis has caused. He isn't satisfied with Jaks defeat of Praxis, Sean thinks it should never happen. He's determined that if White eco can slow time. Enough of it can reverse it. So he works night and day to try and bring his father back. He even does some rather unsavory jobs, since he believes he can undo it all.

Anyways, in this portion Sean falls asleep in his lab and dreams of meeting his father. He only knows Tom as a young adult so that's why they seem to be the same age.

Art at Your Feet

My sister and I participate in the "Art at Uour Feet" Street painting event in Blissfield, MI. Though it was rained out a bit, I was able to do most of my painting :(

 Me working on sketching it out. Sort of a steampunk in space :P I have a bag with satellites and mecha-planets I based it on. (I designed the bag too though)

The jellyfish-like satellites group as they travel the mecha-galaxy.

Meet Ink!

Ink, he's a new character that has a lot of work before he's really presentable to the public. He's for a comic so expect to see more of him soon :)

His hair will probably receive some touch ups, and of course, I have to decide on some clothing. :)

Sean & Tom

I doodled some Tom and Sean sketches last night. Sean discovered his biological father (he's adopted) when he was 17. A rock and roller with a foul mouth but a good soul.

Sean is learning here that Tom isn't such a good sport when playing boggle. Inspired by King of the Hill. hehe.

I also did a picture of the two of them if they were both turned into children. Tom is a menace ;)

I don't love how Sean turned out, but Tom kicks butt. :P

But here's a couple of Seans I do love. I don't think I uploaded them....

A page chock full of Sean :) This is a character I've had forever. I'm reworking slightly to get ready for a comic I'm working on, tentatively titled "Injustice."

I did this speedpaint of Ewan McGregor using a reference. I saw a speedpaint tutorial and attempted to follow it. I'm still having a hard time getting the likeness just right, but I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. I plan to do many more :)

Custom bag

I love canvas bags, they're just me. I found some Sepia pens on clearance at Hobby Lobby. This came out. I love it! I have done two bags and plan to do more :) Hopefully you'll see them on sale at Etsy. I've got to find a good supplier for the bags.

Teddy Laundry Bag

Here's a laundry bag I made for my little sis as she is expecting my new nephew any day. I have about 5 hours into this, that included cutting out the pattern (TEDIUS) for the teddy bear. Originally I was gonna do the whole bear, but it didn't feel very useful so I modified it to have abag unrneath. I made every piece of this by hand. My sewing machine was on the fritz.

Aaron WIPs

Nothing tooo amazing, but a little look at the process I took in creating Aaron. Yeah, I slopped a bg on. It took 10 mins and improved the look of the pic. It could have been better, but I never even intended to have one ;) so I'm not complaining.

Aaron

Aaron is a character I created for my sisters ~cameoanderson project involving a Eugenicist character of sorts, trying to create a perfect being. For a short while Aaron was a favorite, as he can partially change colors to fit in with his environment, and he retained a lot of his human characteristics after the changes were mostly complete.Unfortunately, his creator lost interest before completing him and left him only partially finished. He therefore has issues with his memory, as well as most human functions.

Before Aaron was changed he was a runaway. He had escaped an orphanage and traveled the world. He stowed away on planes, boats, trains.. you name it. He has mostly stayed to the eastern world. He was on his way to the states for the first time when he encountered dificulties in the compartment he was taking refuge in. He was forced to jump (with a chute) from the plane. After swimming for hours he washed up nearly unconscious on the Eugenicist isle.

The concept is similar to The Island of Doctor Moreau, however, there are many twists that separate the two stories.

Minitest Bot Sean

Another entry for the J&D OC contest. This time it's J&D style Sean as a bot. I was able to chose the theme cause I won last weeks minitest with my evil Sean! Sweetness. :) I had fun. Long time before next week though :(

There was a project on DeviantArt where artists were assigned to draw their character with the instrument that most represents them, or just what they wanna play for the lazy artists. Sean plays guitar, he's definitely a guitar guy. However, the inner persona of Sean is definitely more of a Cello.

Cheshire Cat costume!

A friend and I are doing a costume exchange. We were going to do Dr. Seuss as the theme, but it switched somehow to Wonderland. So, I'm getting a Mad Hatter costume, and I'm making her a cheshire cat one. This probably isn't the final, but this is what I have.

Rottweiler!

My dad watched this B movie the other day called "Rottweiler." Very creative title, basically a cyborg Rottweiler that they use to hunt escaped criminals. Doesn't matter the crime, when he finds you, it's over. The tag was something like, "Eat Sleep Fetch Kill" or similar.. Anyways, I thought it should be
"No, YOU play dead." And so this doodle emerged. I love Rotts :)

Evil Mastermind Sean!

Evil Sean

I'm part of a Jak & Daxter (Yes I'm a huge fan of the series) Original Character Club. Though honestly I only made my standard OC fit into that world because his daddy is there ;). Anyways, the club is having a minitest, and the theme is, turn your character into a supervillian. Well Sean is usually such an angel, but I had already thought about how he could become a supervillian in the right circumstances.. so here's the sketch, it's not perfect, but I plan to color it and enter. The contest only lasts a week, or I'd probably have re sketched him. But here he is, in his less than perfect,but still evil, awesomeness.

Liberty Diner

As part of my post-nuclear comic, my character Sean has created a traveling diner out of an old bus that he has refitted. He barters fresh cooked food for supplies and tries to help those in need. He's surprised a long time thanks to the aid of his slightly crazed brother Leo, who watches over him. He also has pretty nice camouflage set up to make it blend with the junk piles that lay scattered about.

This is an idea for said bus. I'm pretty satisfied.

Lil Beastie & Page 5

Lately I've spent so much time working on the same projects that I think I could be losing my mind. So to try and get a break from flash animation I decided to do a quick doodle. This is what evolved.



Page 5 of the TTH comic is about... 75% complete. I'm hoping to get it finished today or tomorrow, but because my deadline is the 28th, it may have to wait until then. I hope not.

My sister and I have also developed a system where I doodle a sketch and she inks and colors it. This has been working really nicely. I don't have to worry about finishing it up, just a quick doodle to get my idea across and she finishes it into something amazing. Weve sold quite a few images this way. So far they've all been bought. So it's a working system ;)
